My Story

I’m Rob, a CPA in the Watertown, South Dakota area, and I started Simple Solutions to do customer service my way—plain-English guidance, fair pricing, and real partnership with the folks who keep our community running. After 12 years in the profession—10 in public accounting and 2 as an office manager/controller for a local subcontractor/service business—I saw how the big-firm model can squeeze both clients and staff. Chasing billable hours often turns quick emails and phone calls into nickel-and-diming, and it limits the time you can spend going above and beyond. I wanted the freedom to help people without those constraints, and to price work in a way that makes sense: reasonable rates, flexible billing, and a focus on outcomes that actually improve your cash flow and peace of mind.

I chose a virtual practice on purpose. Lower overhead means I can keep pricing competitive without cutting corners, and it gives both of us more flexibility. Prefer to meet in person? I’m happy to come to your shop, job site, or favorite coffee spot when face-to-face is easier. My goal is to act as a true partner to business owners—to set up simple monthly rhythms, keep your books clean, explain the why behind your numbers, and help you spot ways to save money and manage cash before issues become emergencies. Whether it’s tax prep, SD sales tax, payroll, or routine bookkeeping, you’ll get straightforward communication, clear expectations, and no surprises. If you’re ready for a CPA who’ll meet you where you are, keep the jargon out, and help you build a healthier, simpler financial routine, I’d love to connect.

About Me

I graduated from Northern State University in 2014 with a Bachelors Degree in Professional Accountancy. I also played college football during my time in Aberdeen. Go Wolves! Outside of work, I’m as local as it gets. I coach junior high football and basketball in the greater Watertown area, I’m married with six kids at home, and I still help on our family dairy farm. Those roles keep me grounded and remind me why small businesses matter: they’re run by people with families, teams, and dreams—not spreadsheets. That’s the perspective I bring to every engagement.
